Awards

1983  Nobel Award for the Extended Essay An investigation of Moiré patterns, some methods of constructing them and a few applications as part of the IB at the United World College of the Atlantic in Wales.

1985  First prize of the City of Berne for excellent performance during the last year at the Gymnasium [1. Maturitätspreis der Stadt Bern für hervorragende Leistungen während des letzten Schuljahres]

1986  First prize of the Swiss Youth Researches ( Schweizer Jugend forscht) competition for the treatise Moiré patterns, an introduction to their mathematics and a few applications.

1996  Otto-Jaag Prize of the ETH Zürich for an excellent dissertation.


 

Work Experience

1988, 1996   Federal Dairy Institute, Bee Department, Schwarzenburgstrasse 155, CH-3097 Liebefeld, with Dr. S. Bogdanov on the residue analysis of acaricides in honey and bees wax and the statistical analysis of honey data to distinguish between the geographical and botanical origin of honey (3 months)

1989  Swiss Federal Research Station for Agricultural Chemistry and Hygiene of the Environment, Schwarzenburgstrasse 155, CH-3097 Liebefeld (now Swiss Federal Research Station for Agroecology and Agroculture), with Dr. S. Gupta (1 month).

1990  Excursion to the Black Sea (Bulgaria) with the Environmental Systems Class of the United World College of the Adriatic, Italy.

1999-present  Project manager in the engineering department of AS INFORMATIK AG, a company specialised in computer networks.
